Piero Massaro

I have pursued beauty forever, one frame at a time.

The story

Piero Massaro is a Sicilian designer who traversed Italy — from Milan to Veneto — carrying a passion born in the world of haute couture and fully blossomed in eyewear design. In 2003 he founded Italiana Design together with Roberta, in the Venetian hinterland, in a territory where light and color dominate daily life. Every Piero Massaro eyewear piece is born from this context of beauty and craftsmanship.

Piero Massaro's design is a deeply personal act. He works with high quality cellulose acetate, invented unique bayonet temples, conceived horizontally-cut screws inspired by the finest watchmaking, and studies precious steel hinges worked multiple times. Every detail is a sign of authentic love for each individual frame — which he considers a true work of art.

International recognition confirms the quality of this work. Piero Massaro has received multiple Silmo d'Or nominations in Paris, winning in 2012 in the 'Optical frame' category, in 2018 in the 'Sunglasses' category and in 2021 for the technological innovation of the cylindrical hinge of the '18' brand. In 2014 the PM415 model won the special prize of the international jury at Silmo d'Or. In 2019 the Numerica series won the Japan Eyewear Award in Tokyo.

Piero Massaro collections are produced in limited editions — one hundred pieces per model — because rarity is an integral part of the value. This is not a marketing strategy: it is the natural consequence of a creative and production process that admits no compromise. Those who choose Piero Massaro choose something that very few others have.
